This museum covers paleontology, anthropology, geology, astronomy and more. For a rock lover, their "Every Rock Has a Story" exhibit and their Mineral Study Gallery are outstanding and well-worth the drive.
According to their web site, Cranbrook founder George Booth started this mineral collection in 1926 with only a few hundred specimens. Since then, it has grown to more than 11,000 specimens, including 300 minerals from Michigan, such as gypsum, copper and halite. Currently, approximately 1,800 specimens are on display in the Mineral Study Gallery.
